the creation of market conditions pertinent
to growth in the ICT sector. This work has
already driven dramatic growth over the
past seven years.

local business community, residents and
Government partners to continue the
successes of the region.

Gold Coast City Council and the
Queensland Government’s Information
Industries Bureau (IIB) have formed a strong
alliance and together provide continuing
opportunity for the development of ICT in
the South East corner of Queensland.
Other State and Federal Government special interest groups have been working closely with Council in the past few years to enhance Gold Coast City as an ICT destination.
“The Gold Coast is the perfect environment for research and development of IT. You have great academic facilities that deliver quality graduates. You have excellent broadband infrastructure. Most important, you have a lifestyle that is second to none that entices the best from all over the world to want to live, work and play here.” Neil Pentland PikiCentral.

BusinessGC – our place
Gold Coast City Council has scored major
successes in developing the city’s ICT
strategy. Most significant among them is
the booming Varsity Lakes Central business
and innovation precinct, which upon
completion will house over 4500 employees
and up to 150,000m² of commercial space.
Within Varsity Central more than 500 businesses and 3000 jobs have been created since 1999. Many of Queensland’s leading companies now reside in Varsity Lakes including Minter Ellison, gotalk, Maxsoft, OntheNet, AAPT, and IBM. BusinessGC – our marketplace
No market in Australia has the potential for
the next 50 years that Gold Coast City has.
Gold Coast City is the fastest growing city in Australia meaning the market for technological growth in all businesses will grow as the city’s commercial base expands to meet population demand.
“The growth of businesses on the Gold Coast has only helped the ICT industry, where businesses are growing everyday to accommodate the needs of other businesses.” Clarence Tan Bond Wireless
With businesses seeking access to interstate and international markets, the linear nature of Gold Coast City means all areas are close to important transport routes, including two international airports.
The Gold Coast’s location on the eastern
coast of Australia provides the perfect
launch-pad for export into the booming
Asian market. Australia’s position in the
international time zones enables the Gold
Coast to be a place of development while
much of the world sleeps.
BusinessGC - combining work and play
Technology, those who create it, those who
operate it and those who support it, all
grow better in a lifestyle provided by Gold
Coast City.
The Gold Coast has one of the most enviable climates in the world. Sub-tropical conditions provide more than 300 days of sunshine every year. This climate has created a city that has been judged the most biodiverse in Australia, with pristine beaches, broad estuaries, secluded inland waterways, lush rainforests and rugged bushland.
